Show Notes:
Are you in a position where you would like to be used by God, but you don’t feel like you measure up? Are you asking yourself, how could God use me? Take a moment to think about the kind of people God has called throughout the Bible to do His work. Many of them did not seem to align with the natural standards of “religion.” However, God doesn’t choose the qualified, He qualifies the chosen!
Though we have a tendency to try and process the things of God naturally, the things of God are so great that it can be difficult to even wrap our minds around them. His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are our ways His ways. His ways are far higher (Isaiah 55: 8-9).
Looking back throughout the Bible, the individuals God chose to use on this earth possessed certain qualifications. As you examine various elements of the kind of people God uses, be encouraged…you may be more qualified than you think.
THE KIND OF PEOPLE GOD USES ARE IMPERFECT…
With the exception of Jesus Christ, not one of us is perfect. Whether the men and women in scripture had imperfect families, imperfect thoughts of themselves, or even an imperfect view of God, each story should encourage you that if God chose them in all their imperfections, you, too, are a candidate to be used by God.
Remember that God doesn’t use perfect people. Take Moses, for example. Although he was knowledgeable and refined through his upbringing, the aspects of Moses that seemed to make him an ideal candidate were actually stripped from him before work could be done through his life. Moses even tried to fulfill his calling in his own strength, with no success. He had to rid himself of his pride. Our effort, like that of Moses, can actually become a stumbling block to our progress. God qualifies those who lean on Him because His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12).
God is looking for people who have humble hearts, so stay in a place of reliance on Him, and allow Him to fill the gaps of your imperfections.
THE KIND OF PEOPLE GOD USES HONOR ALL THINGS FROM GOD—BIG OR SMALL
Do you show honor to God at all times for all things– even the things you may feel are insignificant? Do you give your best in every task you do for Him? When you are cooking for your family or cleaning your house, do it for the glory of God. Anyone who did great things for His Kingdom started small!
Are you blooming where you’re planted and honoring God in your current season and circumstance? Reject negative thoughts that what you have doesn’t seem valuable enough. Don’t wait until you have something “better.” He wants you to offer what you have right now. You can be sure that if you truly give your very best, Jesus will receive it, bless it, and work miracles through it.
THE KIND OF PEOPLE GOD USES ARE WILLING
God uses those who are willing. He doesn’t see you where you’re at, He sees you in the light and fullness of what He has called you to be!
God doesn’t shrink down His plan based on where you begin. If you are laying yourself down at His feet with an urgency and willingness to be more and more like Him, He takes notice. The giftings and callings of God are without repentance. Your past hasn’t disqualified you from what God wants to do in your life. If you’re willing to change, right every wrong, and break off anything that is keeping you from your full potential, He is there waiting and ready to use you. He is calling you forth in the plans He has for you.
Be encouraged by the people God has chosen to use. Fix your eyes on His grace, mercy, and supernatural ability to see you in the fullness of your potential, not in your weakness, not in your imperfections, not in the state of who you are, but who He has called you to be—the kind of person God uses.
