Show Notes:

South Eastern University professor and esteemed woman of God, Dr. Chris Corbett, joins us to share her riveting testimony– a miraculous display of our Heavenly Father’s protection, peace, and redemptive power in the face of ultimate darkness. Dr. Corbett is living proof of the fourth man in the fire, coming out of distress not even smelling like smoke–emerging victorious over the evil plans of the enemy.

Though she endured a nightmare, with Jesus, Dr. Corbett chose to overcome it all. With Jesus, she stated, you can walk through anything with victory.

Dr. Corbett’s story begins a few short months into her undergrad years of college at the young age of eighteen. It was then that her life was marked by a pivotal God encounter. What seemed to be like any other day would actually prove to be a moment in time that, in hindsight, was God reassuring her that though she would endure a tumultuous road ahead, she need not let circumstances lead her into fear or doubt of the future.

Sometime after, the unimaginable happened. While Dr. Corbett was at church teaching for one of the youth ministries she volunteered with, she kindly offered to help an acquaintance. Unbeknownst to her, he had sinister intentions. She was abducted. So began her incredible testimony of God’s protection and goodness. Through her traumatic experience and evil raging all around, she remembers the presence of God’s peace being so strong and real. God delivered comfort, ensuring Dr. Corbett that people were praying for her. She was enveloped in a stillness and a calm; God’s protection abounded.

Miracle after miracle occurred. The light shines in the darkness. Darkness cannot overcome it (John 1:5). As the perpetrator witnessed God’s supernatural power, it instilled fear in him and prevented him from following through with his initial plan. God’s peace, God’s protection, and God’s power had saved her life.

God’s peace was so real in me, I didn’t fear evil & recognized just how much the enemy is at work; there is a war between good and evil, but we don’t have to be afraid of it because God is more powerful.

Dr. Corbett’s miraculous story doesn’t end there. She is a testament to forgiveness, even for the wicked. When asked how she moved forward without allowing the season of her life to dictate the many years she had ahead, Dr. Corbett reflected and expressed how forgiveness is a journey that doesn’t just happen overnight; forgiveness is a continual process. Additionally, she noted that one of the most powerful ways to begin to forgive someone is to pray for those who have hurt you.

After the traumatic experience she endured, Dr. Corbett inevitably walked through seasons of questions. She didn’t shy away from God, rather she approached Him with all of her hard questions. She stressed the critical importance of presenting our questions, fears, and frustrations to God, laying our hearts out to Him. She stated we must be authentic with God if we want to fully heal.

Just as a doctor will address your pain at the level you describe it, the same analogy works with God. Unless we surrender and give it to God, we won’t fully heal. Give it all to God to come out on the other side with the victory that He desires us to live in.

Dr. Corbett’s story is nothing short of extraordinary. Her story is a remarkable testimony of divine intervention of God's protection, healing, and redemption, along with admirable forgiveness in the face of adversity.
