We are not called to view love through a worldly lens. The world tries to convince us that we will find true happiness once we have that “special someone,” a “perfect” person who exists for us all, or that a happy wife leads to a happy life. In truth, happiness comes from the Lord, Jesus will always be the only perfect person to have ever existed, and the state of a household is not determined by the temperament of the wife alone.
A Christian home desires to love mutually so you can live together in unity and peace. Happy spouse, happy house! Both must honor one another and celebrate the unique giftings of husband and wife. Grace and blessings abound where honor resides.
A relationship between husband and wife is a three-cord covenant bond between themselves and God. Marriage was created by God with the intention that He remains at the center. If you’re in a season of singleness, delight in the opportunity to find intimacy with the Lord. While you’re able to devote your undivided attention, spend time with the Lord to know who you are so you’re complete for whomever God places in your life for love. Allow time to find yourself, and heal from past wounds, trauma, or whatever the world may have marked you with. Pause to work on yourself without letting the aspect of being alone scare you. Steward your season of singleness to build the foundation for the rest of your life and allow it to contribute to your character development.
If you’re grieving a past marriage or a marriage that is not currently all that God has intended it to be, put your heart in the Lord to develop and restore you. Be reshaped and remolded; let the Lord give you a complete overhaul. Be intentional to serve the church, plug into good places, and surround yourself with the right people. Pray for your spouse, and don’t lose hope. God is in the restoration business and He will and can rewrite any love story.
