SHOW NOTES:
The Bible tells us in Mark 11: 22-24 that if we believe without any doubt that what we pray for will happen, it will be ours. There is power in your ask and petitions to the Lord. God wants to partner with us to see His will done on the Earth, and He wants to bring our desires to pass in our lives! Have faith in Him and ask God.
God has created us to be in a relationship with Him and to “ask and it will be given to [us]; seek and [we] will find; knock and the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7). We were meant to lean into Him as our healer, provider, restorer, and miracle worker. He’s just waiting for our ask.
When you are convinced and know God is who He says He is, you can come before Him in prayer without worry. God has the power to change any situation; He wants to give you the desires of your heart. You know that promise He has placed in your heart? It was given to you so that you can wrap your faith and hope around it so that when He fulfills your request, all praise and glory will be given to Him.
Each of us is given a measure of faith –how we grow and develop that faith is up to us. However, our faith cannot grow if we do not ask. So, what keeps us from “the ask”?
Lack of knowledge of God’s Word…
Have you ever asked for something from God through a wavering prayer of hesitation? James referred this this type of prayer as a prayer of a double-minded man (James 1:8). When you know God’s true nature and know His Word, it is easier to approach Him with your ask. Immerse yourself in God’s Word, apply scripture to every area of your life, and watch your faith muscles grow.
We don’t have confidence in the position that we hold in Christ…
The truth is, that how we feel about God is going to affect what we ask from Him and how we approach Him. A skewed view of our position keeps us from approaching God with our ask. Let God be your guide, comforter, and teacher. Remember, it’s your position in Christ, not your strength that you can freely approach Him.
We lack trust or perseverance in the promise…
Even when we don’t see the promise come to pass, we have to keep pursuing God. Whatever it is this year that God has put on your heart–even if it hasn’t happened, yet–keep asking, keep knocking, and keep declaring until you see it break forth in your life.
We serve a God who answers, sees, and hears us. He has great things in store; you just have to ask!
