SHOW NOTES:

Despite what the world might try to tell us, we can stay calm even when life gets chaotic. When life is happening all around us, choosing to reside in the Lord allows us to find peace rather than being overcome by worries, anxiety, or distractions.

There is no denying that many things have the potential to rob us of our peace and joy.  It’s possible to have a relationship with God and still let the stress of the everyday in.  The enemy wants nothing more than to get us caught up in turmoil so that we succumb to the chaos that life can sometimes be.

Pause to reflect and ask yourself what things repeat in your mind constantly. Jesus is waiting for you in the midst of it all. Being captivated by Him and His presence is the number one key to calm the chaos. Don’t forget, there is a difference between good things and God things! If the enemy can get you so busy that you’re consumed by what is on the to-do list, focusing on what’s next where you are in a constant state of production mode, you can easily fall out of abiding in Him. Before you know it, you may no longer be producing any fruits of the spirit–left feeling unfulfilled. Life cannot be all about busyness and production when it was intended to be all about being in His presence! Jesus Christ is the center of it all.

If you’re feeling bogged down by your responsibilities, shift your mentality so that you can have peace instead of resenting all the things you “have” to do. Learn to enjoy them and use them to serve back to the Lord and your family. Don’t let the external things get into the internal places that should only be reserved for the Lord! This takes us disciplining our soul so that we lead our lives with Jesus first. Focus on God, and He will work all things together. There are real battles, but the power and grace of God is greater than any storm. No one has given you your peace except Jesus and no one can take it away!

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, put these steps into practice…

#1 Still your soul

Take time first thing in the morning to get in God’s presence. Turn on worship, and allow the Word to wash over you. Think about the right thoughts. Recalibrate and refocus your soul.

#2 Breathe

When you feel stress creeping in, mindfully breathe in then breathe out, reciting: “Thank you, Jesus.”

#3 Rest–spiritually and physically

Take some time for yourself! Be sure to make time for the Sabbath.

I pray that you learn to calm the chaos and hold onto your peace and joy no matter what is happening around you. God is good. He is there for you, so lay all your burdens down at His feet.
