SHOW NOTES:

From handling peer pressure to standing firm in their beliefs, church kids can offer a unique perspective on navigating today’s culture as young believers.

Growing up in the church provides valuable life lessons and opportunities for spiritual growth. When attending church regularly becomes the norm, one can easily take a relationship with Jesus for granted. Therefore, it's essential to actively cultivate a personal relationship with Him by engaging deeply with His Word. As a young believer growing up in the world, it is everyone's responsibility to seek and cultivate a deeper relationship with God for themselves.

A personal connection to God is even more critical growing up as a church kid in the public school system. When you’re cast into situations where you’re living in the world but not of it, you become more aware of unique opportunities to minister to others. Though there are countless voices you can listen to or follow, God’s opinion is the only one that matters.

Know who you are and be true to that. Surround yourself with people of like-minded faith. You don’t have to conform to those that aren’t Christian around you just to fit in. Set boundaries so you can gently show Christ's love without compromising beliefs. Listen, share your personal experience, and don’t condemn others.

When you’re living in a secular world as a Christian, you see the consequences of sin without having to take part in it.  Once you experience the love and peace of God, you won't want to lose either by engaging in what the culture offers. Even when tempted, seek God to help overcome that temptation. No one is perfect and never makes mistakes. However, it’s how you learn and grow from the mistakes, making sure you move forward that matters.

Lastly, technology is embedded in almost every part of today’s youth. You must protect what your ears and eyes consume, having personal standards for yourself. Know what God’s Word teaches and align your consumption with that.
